Continuous motion

Cutting edge technology for high throughput

For many years now, SEMO has been presenting, engineering, building and commissioning continuous motion machines. This advanced technology provides benefits for manufacturing that requires perfect synchronisation between the different steps of a production process.

The skills developped by SEMO in this field is the guarantee that the machines will meet your specific requirements.

What is continuous motion?

This technology is based on mechanical and electronic sychronisation of movements achieved at high speeds. SEMO masters the calculation, the scaling and the production of complex mechanical camshaft systems. This technology has recently been revolutionized by specifically adapted automation and axes systems called "motion systems". Having developed the appropriate skills in electromechanics and related automation, SEMO is in a position to perform multiple processes with real-time speed, torque or position servocontrol (approx. CPU cycle time of 1 ms).

Making use of these electronic cams and other different technologies such as virtual motors, SEMO is able to synchronize many high dynamic servomotors. To engineer and deliver your machines, SEMO is able to combine continuous motion and discrete motion technologies.

What are the benefits of continuous motion machines?

This technology satisfies the requirements of high processing speeds for high-volume manufacturing or assemblying (2,400 to 24,000 parts per hour). In addition to the usual functions, the continuous motion machines can include fast vision features to control or monitor the mechanical movements.

Continuous motion enables the processing of "flexible" products (metal strips, wires, cables, paper, cardboard...) at high rates while maintaining consistent speed.
